Young Writers Scholarship

CACE is funding a scholarship for a Dorchester County student to attend this summer’s Cherry Tree Young Writers Conference. Held at Washington College’s Chestertown campus from July 15-18, the Conference provides students with a chance to explore the literary worlds of writing, editing, and publishing.

The Young Writers’ Conference is comprised of rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors (along with summer 2025 graduates). The students will take creative writing workshops in fiction, poetry, or journalism, attend readings and panel discussions, and learn about editing and publishing from prize-winning authors and faculty members. The CACE scholarship covers all costs—including room, board, and books—for a student living in Dorchester County.

Interested applicants should complete the Conference Registration Form on the Washington College website and answer “Yes” when asked about consideration for a scholarship. The scholarship application period closes on June 17, and applicants will be notified of final scholarship decisions shortly thereafter. For more information, contact Amber Taliancich, the Conference Coordinator, at aallen5@washcoll.edu.
